The Kardashian Divorce Is Getting Ugly

The Kardashian Divorce Is Getting Ugly

By Amber Eberle (Clubben.com)

Unless you live under a rock, you are sure to know the whole story of Kim Kardashian's whirlwind courtship and marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. The E! Network should probably be renamed the K! Network, because it seems like that channel is all Kardashians, all the time. Everything about the engagement and wedding was over the top, as is befitting for the Kardashians. From the 20.5 carat diamond engagement ring, to the reportedly $10 million wedding, America was "invited" to watch it all.

These two did not seem like a match made in Heaven from the start. Kim Kardashian seemed more interested in being a bride (a.k.a. the center of attention) than actually getting married and working on a relationship. Just days before the wedding the "happy" couple seemed tense and snippy with each other- not normal behavior for most couples just before they get married. But they got their "fairy-tale" wedding, and every single moment was recorded for prosperity.

Fast forward 72 days, and reports come out that Kim Kardashian had filed for divorce. Interestingly, this announcement came just a few weeks before "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" premiered (how many shows does this family have?!). Irreconcilable differences, blah, blah- in my opinion if you make the choice to get married you should try for more than 72 days to make it work. It's not like these two got married on a whim after partying all night in Vegas.

On "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" the E! cameras captured every minute of the union, and while editing can be deceiving, it appears that Kim Kardashian let everyone except her husband know that she planned on ending her marriage. The season concluded with her telling America that she needed privacy to talk to Kris about how unhappy she was.

TMZ is now reporting that the divorce is getting ugly. Allegedly Kris Humphries and his lawyer want to have the marriage annulled based on fraud. Humphries believes that Kardashian never planned on staying married to him, and just used the wedding and their marriage to get high ratings for the Kardashian reality shows. I have no idea how they plan on trying to prove this. Kardashian is still asking for divorce based on irreconcilable differences. Ironically, Humphries lawyer reportedly plans to ask the judge to allow cameras in the court room while the matter is being decided. Maybe Humphries loves attention just as much as his soon-to-be ex.

One can speculate both sides of the matter. Five years ago I probably would have believed that this was a romance and marriage that went bad fast. But I am a much more cynical now, and I do not think that Humphries claim is out of the realm of possibility. Either way I am sure we will hear all about it when Ryan Seacrest decides to produce "Kim Takes On Divorce".
